Hardwood Flooring Installation & Refinishing in Chicago's Western Suburbs
Solid and engineered hardwood, installed from bare subfloor to finished trim — and existing floors sanded back and refinished rather than ripped out.
The work
Hardwood is the floor people judge a house on, which is why most of the work happens before a board is fastened: checking the subfloor is flat and sound, letting the wood acclimate to the room it is going into, and planning the layout so the boards run with the light and the long walls rather than against them.
If there is already hardwood underneath the carpet, or a tired finish on a floor that is structurally fine, refinishing is usually the better answer. Sanding back to raw wood, staining to the color you want, and building the finish back up gives you a floor that looks new for a fraction of a replacement.

Common questions
- Can you match a new floor to the hardwood already in the house?
- Usually, yes. Matching depends on the species, the board width and the stain. We look at what is already down during the estimate and tell you honestly how close a match is realistic before anything is ordered.
- Refinish or replace?
- If the boards are sound and thick enough to sand, refinishing almost always costs less and keeps the character of the original floor. If there is water damage, cupping or previous sanding has taken the boards too thin, replacement is the better value. We will tell you which one you are looking at.
- Does the furniture need to come out?
- Yes — rooms need to be clear for installation or sanding. We will talk through what needs to move and when, so you can plan around it.
